Limited provider choice
Where only a handful of providers operate, CCS can help compare available services, widen the search to nearby regions or remote delivery options, and document unsuccessful attempts to establish support.
Living outside a major city often means fewer providers to choose from, long travel distances, workforce shortages, and services that only cover certain towns. CCS provides remote Support Coordination to help eligible participants organise the supports that are available, address service gaps and connect formal, mainstream, community and informal options.
CCS doesn’t have a local office or face-to-face workforce in regional or rural areas. Support Coordination is delivered remotely, through phone, video, email and other agreed methods.
A remote support coordinator can help a regional or rural participant understand their NDIS plan, research providers that cover their location, coordinate telehealth and visiting services, document access barriers, plan provider transitions and build contingency arrangements. We can’t guarantee local service availability.
Where regional support breaks down
Where only a handful of providers operate, CCS can help compare available services, widen the search to nearby regions or remote delivery options, and document unsuccessful attempts to establish support.
Providers may restrict how far they travel or charge permitted travel-related costs. A coordinator can help clarify the service area, proposed charges and whether the arrangement is actually workable before you sign an agreement.
Some services may be available remotely when it’s clinically and practically appropriate. CCS can help coordinate appointments and information sharing, but we don’t decide whether a clinical service should use telehealth.
Where a provider visits the area periodically, CCS can help coordinate timing, reports and follow-up with your other supports.
When replacement services are hard to find, it matters to identify likely points of failure, emergency contacts and agreed backup actions early. CCS can support coordination planning, but we cannot provide local emergency response or replace essential services that simply aren’t available.
When video doesn’t work well
Video meetings aren’t the only option. Tell CCS if internet access, devices, data costs, digital confidence, hearing, communication or privacy make video difficult — phone contact, written summaries or an authorised local support person may work better.
Being upfront about limits
CCS cannot conduct in-person home visits, physically inspect services, attend local appointments or provide direct disability support outside Canberra and Queanbeyan. Information about distant providers is checked, never assumed. Immediate safety, health or crisis issues need to go through the appropriate local and emergency services.
Frequently asked questions
Remote Support Coordination may be available across Australia, subject to team capacity, participant needs, communication access and whether remote delivery actually suits you. CCS assesses each referral individually.
CCS can help search nearby areas, remote options, outreach services and relevant mainstream or community supports. We can document access attempts and barriers, but we can’t create provider capacity out of nothing or guarantee a service will become available.
Yes, with participant consent or appropriate authority. A trusted family member, nominee, advocate or provider can help with communication and local follow-up.
No. CCS remote Support Coordination is not an emergency service — call Triple Zero for immediate danger, and use the relevant local health, safeguarding or crisis service.
